Dining around the Fairplex

The Los Angeles county fair can be an awesome experience, but where does one go for some good food after a day of wandering about the Fairplex? Fret not, footsore traveler, dining opportunities abound within easy distance of the Fairplex.

The Cocopalm Restaurant, located at 397 North Gilbert Road, is known for its great atmosphere, great band, and great cuisine consisting of a blend of Spanish and Cuban style cuisine. The establishment serves at Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, and Happy Hour, has a full bar, and is considered an excellent romantic destination to take that special someone.

Johnny's, found at 2302 North Garey Avenue serves world famous burgers and fried mushrooms that may in fact be the best on planet Earth. It is a favorite of local firemen, so the only way to describe the atmosphere is to say you stand a very good chance of dining in the company of heroes.

The El Merendero, at 1910 Fairplex Drive is rather small...in the way precious gems are small. Their tasty chips, salsa, and chili verde can nearly make a meal in and of themselves, and their burritos are locally famous.

For a hearty slab of ribs (or other BBQ favorites) at a reasonable price, head on down to the Rib Ranch Eatery 1101 West McKinley Avenue, near the Sheraton Suites-Fairplex. Their sauce is tangy and the meat is smoked to perfection.

But for good old fashioned pizza pie, you can't beat Valentino's Pizzeria, located at 644 East Arrow Highway. The toppings are generous with plenty of cheese, and the crust (which can be had thick or ordered New York style) is fluffy perfection.

The Locust Lounge Restaurant and Bar, located at 205 East 2nd Street, is a happening place to take in a meal and the local nightlife. Remember, if you end up partying 'till dawn its no one's fault but your own!

If you hanker for a taste of the Deep South OR the Far East, head own down to the Louisiana Chicken and Golden Wok, found at 205 East 2nd Street.
