Shopping near the Fairplex
Located about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles is Fairplex, a major attraction of the LA metropolitan area. This multi-use entertainment and meeting venue is located in the city of Pomona, far away from the hustle and bustle of LA. In addition to the annual LA County Fair, the Fairplex hosts different events year round including drag racing, concerts, trade shows, conferences, museum exhibitions, and more. The complex even offers on site dining and lodging. However, the only time visitors can shop at the Fairplex is in September, when hundreds of local vendors gather during the County Fair.
Fortunately, there are plenty of shopping opportunities near Fairplex. Most of Pomona's shopping districts are strip plazas scattered throughout the city. The city's layout is similar to suburban commercial districts. You simply will not find good old fashioned main streets with historic buildings and quaint shops and boutiques. Holt Avenue and Garey Avenue in the downtown area have multiple stores. However, running from one store to another can be inconvenient, especially for visitors who came to the Fairplex and Pomona to relax, not for a shopping frenzy.
The most convenient shopping option near the Fairplex is the Montclair Plaza. Situated near the intersection of Arrow Highway and Central Avenue in Monclair, this shopping mall is only about 5 miles west of the Fairplex. Drivers can get directly on Arrow Highway or take Interstate 10 for this short and worthy trip to find the best shopping options around. There is also a Metrolink station right near Montclair Plaza, which connects to the Pomona North Station near the Fairplex.
Montclair Plaza features anchor stores Sears, Macy's, JCPenny, and Nordstrom. These familiar department stores can truly make visitors shop until they drop. There are plenty of other stores and retailers at this mall in categories such as fashion clothing, shoes, jewelry, electronics, sporting goods, music, books, and much more. Whether it is a great outfit at Ann Taylor Loft or some jeans at Aeropostale, there is plenty of apparel to shop for. If Montclair Plaza doesn't offer enough stores, there are multiple large shopping centers right across this mall. Combined together, this Montclair shopping area offers something for everyone.
